Abstract

Three new and a rare species of Mononchida from Ecuador are described, namely Prionchulus grazynae sp. n., Cobbonchus macrampulla sp. n., Mylonchulus aequatorialis sp. n. and P. auritus Andrássy, 1985. P. grazynae sp. n. is characterized by its body 1.7-2.1 mm long, buccal cavity 15-22 x 30-40 μm, dorsal tooth very anteriorly located, two subventral rows of denticles each with 14-16 denticles, pars refringens vaginae with well slerotized pieces, and conical tail ventrad bent. C. macrampulla sp. n. is characterized by its body 1.17 – 1.44 mm long, lips low with prominent labial and cephalic papillae, buccal cavity 14-16 x 35-37 μm, dorsal tooth and subventral teeth located respectively at 14.5 – 16.5 μm and 19 – 22 μm from anterior end, pars refringens vaginae with very small and weakly sclerotized pieces, caudal glands ending with a well developed ampulla which is sclerotized in its posterior part, and spinneret opening terminal. M. aequatorialis sp. n. is characterized by its rather short body (L = 0.89 – 1.07 mm), lip region well set off, lips with prominent labial and cephalic papillae, six rows of rasp-like denticles opposite to the dorsal tooth, absence of subventral denticles, female reproductive apparatus amphidelphic, absence of paravulval papillae; tail slightly longer than anal body width, conoid, ventrad curved, with subdigitate tip slightly dorsad bent; and cuticularized duct of caudal glands with subdorsal opening.
