Three new species of the mononchid genus
Coomansus are described and illustrated. Coomansus inca sp. n. from Peru is characterized by its body 2.00-2.35 mm long, lip region 36-40 μm wide, buccal cavity 50-53 × 26-30 μm and with tooth apex located at 32-36% of stoma length, devoid of intestinal constrictions, and 6.3–8.2 anal body diameters long tail. Coomansus mapuche sp. n. from Chile is distinguished by the body 2.27-2.40 mm long, lip region 30-34 μm wide, buccal cavity 36-39 × 19-21 μm with tooth apex located in its middle (at 47-50% of stoma length), no intestinal constrictions, and tail about 5 anal body widths long. Coomansus papua sp. n. from Papua New Guinea is characterized by having 3.06-3.58 mm long body, lip region 42-45 μm wide, buccal cavity 49-53 × 26-28 μm with tooth apex lying at 22-24% of stoma length, intestine with weak constrictions, and tail 3.8-5.0 anal body diameters long. The genus Parkellus Jairajpuri, Tahseen & Choi, 2001 is regarded as junior synonym of Coomansus and its type species transferred to the latter as Coomansus parkellus (Jairajpuri, Tahseen & Choi, 2001) comb. n. Tables containing morphometric data of 31 Coomansus species are added.Downloads
