Diferencias en las intenciones y valoraciones emprendedoras de los académicos españoles según su género

Resumen

En los últimos años, el interés de las universidades y la administración pública por el fenómeno de creación de spin-off ha aumentado como una forma de transferir los resultados de la investigación al sector productivo.

Esta creación de spin-off depende de varios factores, y uno de los más importantes es el género. De hecho, el Informe de la Comisión sobre la promoción de las mujeres innovadoras y el espíritu empresarial (2008) muestra que el espíritu empresarial femenino sigue siendo un desafío. En este campo, la literatura es aún escasa y nuestro estudio intenta contribuir a su aumento.

Con este objetivo, llevamos a cabo un estudio cualitativo entre 42 académicos para identificar los factores determinantes del emprendimiento académico durante enero de 2017. Nuestros resultados identifican seis factores. Tras la identificación de estos elementos, se ha desarrollado un estudio cuantitativo entre 1,726 académicos (39% mujeres, 61% hombres), con el propósito de obtener la jerarquía de estos determinantes que llevan a los académicos a montar empresas spin-off.

La técnica utilizada para el análisis ha sido el análisis conjunto, una técnica que, hasta donde nuestro conocimiento alcanza, no se ha utilizado para el estudio del emprendimiento académico.

Nuestros resultados muestran diferencias de género en la jerarquía de los factores del emprendimiento académico, con implicaciones para la gestión de la transferencia de tecnología y para los responsables de las políticas universitarias.
