This study focuses the historical process and the geographical handicaps in relation to the saltwater conversion from sea water in The East Canaries: Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, which has obvious scarcities of hydrological resources due to aridity and low rainfall. This circumstance has generated that men have had to transform in a significant form the environment in order to obtain water. In addition, men have had to drill the subsoil to get water from the aquifer. However, the shortage of water made possible that in the second half of the 20th Century different systems were developing with the objective of getting desalination water with a cost of energetic consumption every time minor
