Abstract

Visual culture is considered a set of information that contributes to create, transmit and perpetuate an interpretation of reality among those who consume the products that emanate from it. A significant example of this function is directly reflected with the animation cinema generally intended for children. This is intended to introduce a mindset receptively-passively into the subconscious of the audience of minors. Among the possibilities that are found is the collection "The Classics" Disney (1937-2016) to analyze in a qualitative way and through techniques of Image-Based Research the concept of Manichaean darkness. In this way, in this set of North American films, the producer's eagerness to show and transmit a separatist and divisive feeling of life situations; as well as the figures. For this company with global impact, someone could be totally good or totally perverse. This idea is accompanied by the situations that Disney recreates for the concepts of light and dark. However, it is intended to know in which films of this animation collection this study variable is presented and what situations are those that Disney understands that defend darkness versus clarity; positioning from a Manichaean understanding of society.
