Esta publicación, dedicada a la memoria de Maryelle Bertrand, es resultado de una doble sesión de trabajo, organizada como un seminario, al amparo del convenio de colaboración firmado entre la Casa de Velázquez y la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, al que se unió la Casa de la Moneda que, a través de la Fundación Real Casa de la Moneda también ha colaborado en esta edición que reúne en una publicación conjunta, bajo el formato de un estudio monográfico, incluido en la colección de la Casa de Velázquez, un total de diez aportaciones, escritas en tres lenguas distintas (español, francés y portugués), en las que poder seguir el desarrollo científico de los mejores proyectos centrados en la investigación de la minería y la metalurgia altomedieval a ambos lados del Estrecho, en los territorios de al-Andalus y el Magreb occidental.
