La Castell d’Ambra (Pego)
De las producciones andalusíes a las cerámicas de la conquista feudal (siglo XIII)

El análisis de las transformaciones acaecidas en el poblamiento entre época islámica y feudal, y más en concreto entre el período almohade y la primera etapa cristiana, constituye el principal motor del proyecto de investigación arqueológica que en codirección con J. Torró estamos llevando a cabo en la comarca de la Marina Alta (Alicante) desde 1992. El proyecto trata de identificar las pautas de asentamiento y explotación del territorio desarrolladas por ambas formaciones sociales a partir de la impronta dejada por las mismas en el paisaje, para lo cual se ha desarrollado una actividad pluridisciplinar en la que se combina el análisis de las fuentes documentales con la prospección sistemática del territorio y la excavación arqueológica. Para esta última se escogió el enclave del castillo de Ambra, en el municipio de Pego, el cual se presentaba a priori com un buen ejemplo de asentamiento castral andalusí reutilizado tras la conquista. La excavación en el mismo comenzó en 1993 y en el presente año se ha realizado la quinta, y seguramente última campaña.
