Arqueología urbana: investigación y gestión. La situación en Andalucía

Entre 1985 y 1988, desde la Dirección General de Bienes Culturales de Andalucía, y mediante sus organismos dependientes y asesores, fue definiéndose un modelo de arqueología que pretendía efectuar un salto cualitativo en el conjunto de la práctica arqueológica que se había desarrollado durante la época anterior. Esta transformación debía operarse en los campos de investigación, difusión y conservación (Ruíz 1988), sin que en principio se estableciesen diferencias claras entre investigación y gestión, o más bien, sin que la gestión se definiese claramente.
En investigación se sustituyó la actuación por el proyecto, y es el terreno donde el Modelo Andaluz de Arqueología (desde ahora MAA) tiene sin duda sus mejores éxitos. Las resistencias fueron por supuesto notables, derivadas en muchos casos de la incapacidad de los propios arqueólogos para construir un proyecto de investigación histórica, o la pura y simple negativa a hacerlo, por seguir afirmando la “pureza” y “belleza” de la arqueología, cuyo único fín parece que debía seguir siendo el de descubrir objetos: muebles o inmuebles.
