Siyilmasa: Estudio ceramológico

Es muy escasa la información que tenemos sobre la producción cerámica de Siyilmasa durante la Edad Media debido a la ausencia total de documentación histórica y arqueológica sobre este tema. Las crónicas medievales no dicen nada acerca de esta actividad artesanal y no hacen ninguna mención a la existencia de talleres de alfarería en esta región. ¿Cómo podemos explicar este terrible silencio por parte, incluso, de algunos historiadores y viajeros árabes que visitaron la ciudad caravanera, tales como Ibn Hawqal, Ibn Battuta y León el Africano? Varias hipótesis pueden aclarar este extremo.
