Un complejo califal de Marroquíes Bajos (Jaén)

En Junio de 1995 se inicia una intervención arqueológica de urgencia en la Manzana E del Residencial Programado 4 de la ciudad de Jaén, en la Zona Arqueológica de Marroquíes Bajos. El solar tenía inicialmente una superficie de unos 7.000 metros cuadrados. Sin embargo, tan sólo pudieron ser documentados unos 1.500 metros 2 . El resto de la superficie fué afectada por demoliciones y dragados del terreno antes de la paralización de las obras a comienzos de 1995.
La catalogación de la Zona Arqueológica de Marroquíes Bajos se realiza a partir de la aparición de numerosos restos arqueológicos al Norte de Jaén de época calcolítica y de otros posteriores, donde se había recalificado el suelo rústico en urbanizable, en las modificaciones de Plan General de Ordenación Urbana.Downloads
