Abstract

The Monaita Gate (Bab al-’Unaydar) is one of the most important and famous gates in Granada city (madi- na), built during the rule of the Ziri kings in the XIth century. It was the main entrance to “alcazaba” from outside. With the growing of Albayzín it remained inside the remparts of the town. It was considered as first example of “bent entrance” for its structure and chronology.
