La doctora Trillo San José, profesora de Historia Medieval de la Universidad de Granada, nos tiene acostumbrados a abordar viejos problemas históricos desde novedosas perspectivas. Es suficiente recordar algunos trabajos en los que ha analizado las transformaciones derivadas de la repoblación cristiana y la formación de los señoríos castellanos en los territorios del antiguo reino de Granada, como La Alpujarra antes y después de la conquista castellana (Granada, 1994; tema posteriormente abordado en otros estudios más concretos como “Una nueva sociedad, un nuevo paisaje: los señoríos castellanos de la frontera nororiental del Reino de Granada”, en Aragón en la Edad Media. Homenaje a la Profesora Carmen Orcástegui Gros, XIV-XV, Zaragoza, 1999, pp. 1545- 1564; o “El paisaje vegetal en la Granada islámica y sus transformaciones tras la conquista castellana”, en Historia Agraria, 17, Murcia, 1999, pp. 131-152), la edición del Libro de los Repartimientos de Loja (II) (Granada, 1999) o la reciente coordinación del volumen Asentamientos rurales y territorio en el Mediterráneo Medieval (Granada, 2002)
