The Wall of Avilés, Asturias

The wall of Avilés village has been dated in the 13th century starting from the poor facts provided by writ- ten sources. Recently the results from an arqueological excavation have allowed us review the constituent chronology of the fortified enclosure -related with an urban growth context among theend of 11th century and beginning of 12th–, as well as different aspects of the building history of the wall among Medieval Age and its demolition at 19thcentury.
