Journal History

Arqueología y Territorio Medieval was founded by the Medieval History department of the University of Jaén in 1993. The first number was published in 1994 supported by a reduced number of researchers of the al-Andalus archaeology (Manuel Acién; Patrice Cressier, Sonia Gutiérrez, Antonio Malpica) although since the beginning the intention was to cover every research related to the medieval archaeology.

It began as an annual publication that became biannual between 2003 and 2006 and returned to being annual in 2007 to grant the quality of the published texts. In the same year some major changes in the structure and the organization of the magazine were introduced to adapt it to the scientific demands. In 2014 (nº 21-22) became a digital publication, and opting for the editorial by the OJS system.
