Fuel surcharge (YQ) on air tickets as an object of misleading advertising

In the following article, the fuel surcharge (YQ) present in many air tickets is studied from the legal and economical perspectives. It is different to taxes or airport fees, and it is a surcharge, created unilaterally by the airline to compensate for the increase in oil prices that hit the aviation sector in 20 years. The definitions and history of this charge are provided in the first and second sections of the present article. The third and fourth provides the legislative solutions to the matter in a number of countries, including the Philippines, Brazil and the United Kingdom (where two legal cases are explained). The fifth part studies the fuel surcharges on certain flights departing Spain, especially on routes toward America. While the last part wants to explain if this surcharge can consider disloyal, or even illegal. Also, explains the main reasons for this surcharge according and the ways to make it fair.
