The "lawfare" is the strategic and abusive use of the legal system for political purposes to delegitimize and eliminate adversaries, replacing physical violence with lengthy judicial proceedings, unfounded complaints and preventive imprisonment. In Peru, the judicialization of politics has turned judges, prosecutors and the media into protagonists of a legal "hybrid war". Cases such as the vacancy and imprisonment of Pedro Castillo or the accusations against Dina Boluarte for the death of demonstrators illustrate how the law is used as a political weapon, eroding confidence in institutions and challenging the balance between state powers. Strengthening the independence, impartiality and efficiency of justice is essential to guarantee the constitutional rule of law.
