Analysis of the right to be forgotten in the framework of data protection

Abstract

Nowadays, stand out for their special
significance: the right to data protection and the right to be forgotten. The right to data
protection manifests itself in a more general way than the right to be forgotten allowing
individuals to exercise control over their personal information. However, the expansion of
Internet access and the growth of digital platforms have hindered its effective application,
generating scenarios in which the exposure of personal data can irreversibly compromise the
reputation and privacy of users. For these cases, the right to be forgotten comes into play, a
way to request the deletion of their information in certain cases. Hence, both rights and
citizens, the holders of these rights, have to face the challenges posed by new technologies
and adapt to the challenges of the new digital era.
