Reality of teacher training to develop subject programs by competences in UNEV This work focuses on analysing the training of professors in teacher training careers to develop competency-based subject programmes. It was carried out at the National Evangelical University (UNEV) in the Dominican Republic. To achieve this goal, 60 teachers out of the 107 that make up the staff were surveyed. A questionnaire was applied to find out their perception of their training needs to develop the aforementioned programmes. In addition, 264 of these documents developed between 2017 and 2018 were evaluated. For this purpose, an assessment scale instrument was applied, following the quality criteria established by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT). Urgent needs for curricular training were detected and, based on these findings, an improvement plan is proposed for all the teaching staff of the aforementioned university institution.
