Praise of the senses: the manifestation of the body in old Spanish popular lyrical poetry
Keywords:
senses, body, popular lyrical poetry, experienceAbstract
This paper aims to study the manifestations of the body in a representative corpus of old Spanish popular lyrical poetry. The person who reads a text decodes it from their own experiences; that is, the question is reading as a deductive exercise intended to understand the development of the senses over the centuries. The latter require the accumulation of one’s own sensations in order to enrich the act of reading in a common area: the text. I propose in this article that the reader addressed in the text, remember or imagine, through its senses, that which is part of our world.
