A historical approach to the wills of the executed in Spanish printed popular literature (16th-19th centuries)

This paper explores the wills of executed men in popular Spanish printed literature, which is a subgenre of gallows literature that has received little attention to date. We will analyze ten testaments that were printed between the 16th century and the mid-19th century, drawing on both journalistic and archival sources. Our goal is to investigate the possible uses of these wills, as well as their composition, dissemination, and reception.
