Visual anthropology and digital media: New perspectives and methodological experiencies

Abstract

In the new digital era, visual anthropology recover the multimedia spirit that has defined from its origins as discipline. These new digital platforms offer readings and experiences that transform the ethnographic practice and allow to address the human experience as multisensorial. The ability to break with the linear reading and interconnectivity between different universes of meaning as the word, image, sound, touch or smell, give these new platforms the ability to produce complex ethnographies not trapped in genre conventions or styles. Incorporated into the film within a broader context in which the connections between words, images and sounds involving a methodological and epistemological challenge to anthropologists.. Visual anthropology has begun to rethink in relation to various modes of representation and experience that go beyond the films.
