Abstract

This article explores the inclusion of women and indigenous peoples in the Bolivian and Ecuadorian Armed forces via specific public policies and affirmative actions that took place between 2005 and 2013. These policies are based on a universal liberal notion of rights that respond to a modernization and democratization of the armed forces mentioned. I argue that
this reflects an institutional emphasis on hegemonic feminism and multi-culturalism while rejecting decolonial feminisms and interculturalism, which would correspond better to the Buen Vivir paradigms.
