Silenced experiences of violence in anthropological praxis

This article describes, analyzes, and reflects on the silence and traumatic experiences of women anthropologists who are victims of sexual harassment and violence during their stays in the field from the perspective of feminist anthropology and emotions, analyzing the different roles, logics and strategies of social actors. Based on autoethnography and conversational interviews conducted with anthropologists with experience in field work in international and national contexts, the need for the depatriarchalization of the discipline in academia is discussed, as well as the need to make these problems visible in the programs of undergraduate and master´s subjects in terms of gender and method. Although steps have been taken since the 80s towards this, the issue remains silenced and buried, not fully achieving these objectives due to permanence, perpetuation and internationalization of patriarchal patterns.
