Transit migration: Between temporary and long waits. The CETI case of Melilla

Abstract

The article presents the issue of international migration emphasizing in a peculiar space in the European context: the Temporary Centre for Immigrants (CETI) Melilla. The city is a gateway between the south and north, two divided spaces linked by economic agreements and by the movements of people. The objective of this article is to study in depth the daily life of migrants living, in most of the studied cases during years, in the CETI of Melilla. The article is based on the informations recollected during my fieldwork in Melilla in the period 2010-2012.
