Abstract

In the present article we do a critical analysis of the work of Amin Maalouf Killer Identities(1999) using different contributions from the Social Anthropology. In this work the author points at the religious fundamentalism as the main cause of crimes committed throughout history in defense of religious and cultural identity. In our opinion, the efforts of the author in his journey through migratory processes, showing them as an example and opportunity for coexistence is an example of the orientalist doctrine. Referred by Edward Said (1997) to present an ontological bias favorable to Occident in which the author forgets the role of nation-states even in the configuration of identities and knowledge creation
