Abstract

This paper will address the student demonstrations of 2011 and 2012 in Chile and how these manifestations realize indignation that refers to both the Chilean educational system as a more widespread discontent on the economic and political system. Furthermore, this paper proposes to consider these manifestations as one of the most visible citizen expressions of a set of demonstration citizen characterized by the emergence of a new type of citizen. The methodological basis of this work is based on the autoethnography, understood as a form of research where they cross the researcher’s position with its position as a social actor. In this
case the crossing is in my participation in the demonstrations here analyzed, as an academic and as a citizen committed to the social and political struggles of recent years.
