Abstract

The article begins with an article published in The Chronicle of Higher Education with respect to a dispute within the American Anthropological Association about the permanence or
elimination of the word science of the mission of the association. It is clear that this debate involves discussions about the role of anthropology and science concepts and their associations with the notions of nature and culture. Besides being a recurring theme in the meetings of anthropologists. Finally, a brief reflection on the importance of debate in anthropology as a discipline.
