Abstract

For Catholics the religious image is an inherent element in its practice: the images of Christ, the Virgin, Saints and the infancy of Jesus, in an element of differentiation with regard to Christian churches and, in general, are converted to Protestantism as emergent phenomena taken force in the last decades of the 20th century and early 21st in the city of Bogotá. The Constitution of the Catholic imaginary, supported a high percentage in the tables, images and statues, is a key
element in the process of re-afirmación of a social imaginary that relates to the founding myth of our faith. This phenomenon is constantly re-afirma visit to churches and shrines accompanied by images, paintings, sculptures and the constant pilgrimage that, as an element of identity
Constitution, is essential for Catholics. Indeed the Catholic religious imagination you must see as part of an “archetype”, which affects directly in the collective unconscious of the believers, which is not individual but universal nature and search for a mythical response to the origin and characteristics of the good Christian. It is our interest in this article where the imaginary social historical phenomenon is transformed, develop a historical tour of the religious imagination in the
city of Bogotá, from Cologne to contemporaneity, passing through three religious images.
