Abstract

In the Ecuadorian Constitution of 2008, the good living concept was introduced as objective and political framework for the government´s action. From the perspective of the govermentality studies, this paper aims to define its content in contrast with other governmental rationalities, as are neoliberalism and occidental welfarism. The paper also highlights the continuities of those rationalities inside the new political framework. In order to achieve this goal, the
concept of good living will be analyzed through some of its key dimensions: sovereignty and the introduction of plurinationality, its tense relations with economic development policies and the objective of improving the living conditions of popular social groups
