Abstract

Contemporary art and city share the impossibilty of being considered as integrated wholes, and also the fact that their undergoing transformations are echoing one another, perhaps
showing an implied Zeitgeist. Considering the last and controversial documentary film by the famous artist Banksy, we will discuss the close relationship between artistic creativity and city that is implied in the development of the so-called street art. Secondly, we will use the film as a pretext to point out some conditions of the present commercialization of street art, and also a proposal on what could the practice of “art” in the city mean today.
