Abstract

This text objective´s to reflect on stereotypes, prejudices and gender discrimination in proverbs, jokes and riddles. Some concepts are reviewed and applied to the selected popular
narratives. There are some difference between the stories. The proverb reproduces sexism in general towards the female population. The joke is sexist for both genders and equitable with regard to discrimination against men and women. The riddle has intentions of the other two stories, but has a different creative potential about stereotypes and prejudices and the sexism in two ways. The first calling for the surprise that produces realizing through experience or immediate awareness. The second creating awareness already from the rational reflection on the sexism in the language.
