Abstract

Nowadays the evangelical movement represents with the Islam one of the most dynamic religious group all over the world due to his ability to blend with each culture, re-signifying
their language and codes. In this paper we tackle the evangelical’s representations on politics within a neo-pentecostal church in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In order to do this we are going to develop a double strategy. On the first part we will analyze the teachings condense in the biblical story of José, understood as a historicized myth that speaks a message of leadership for the evangelic community in it´s always conflictive relationship with the “world of men”.
On the second part we are going to focus on the shift of the religious strategy toward political parties, considering the believers representations on politics. The paper includes field work through deeps interviews, participant observation and the analysis of church´s documents
