Abstract

In Mexico, one phenomenon clearly noticeable is rural to urban migration. During the last few years, there is a spontaneous growth in the migration of indigenous people towards the northern cities of Mexico, especially to Monterrey Metropolitan Zone in search of employment. Once migrants arrived to this metropolis, they face difficulty in the process of adjustment and adaption in city environment because of “hidden” discrimination towards the indigenous. Because of invisible discrimination many migrants suffers from social, psychological and personal problems, which force them to return to their place of origin or change their place of destination. Present article attempts to investigate the importance of indigenous migration towards the Monterrey Metropolitan Zone and their process of adjustment and integration. For the current research data has been obtain from the field work carried out during the beginning of the year 2009 in Monterrey Metropolitan Zone.
