Abstract

For the ethnic groups of Oaxaca, the words not only broadcast ideas. They become also traditions and forefathers ambassadors, serving as médium to balance people in their context. In the traditions, the words can cure or damage, depending of who make use of them and with what purpose. The word is a vehicle to “move”oneself thru the symbolic espace of the tradition. The Zapotecos, as other Mesoamerican groups, apreciate their language. They consider it necessary in the care and cure proceedings. The health and wellness troubles are understood as experience facts. In that circunstance, the person discourse is as important as all the local healer can observe in the pre-cure proceeding, to understant the unbalance.
