Discapacidad y prisión. Una reflexión en torno a la privación de libertad en personas con discapacidad intelectual

Abstract

The actual review intend to make an approach to the reality of people which are suffering from any kind of intellectual disability and deprived of liberty in the spanish penitentiaries. Factors that link to the offence will be analyzed, differentiating custodial and non-custodial freedom measures that are offered to this group, as well as resources and social politics existing from the penitentiary administration and the third sector will be reviewed in addition to protocols of attention to be followed in order to take care of the needs of people with intellectual disabilities involved in a criminal process and in an offender situation. The final objective of this reflection is to obtain a set of conclusions on the issue of intellectual disability in prison as well as to establish starting points for a socio-educational intervention adapted to the group studied.
