Separation - Abstraction - Resistance in La Peste by Albert Camus

In this text, we are going to observe the problem of the “evil” in the famous work La Peste written by Albert Camus, by focusing on three themes that stand out: separation, abstraction and resistance. In the work La Peste, any human fixation on abstractions prevents feelings of connection with humankind. However, the possibility of the loss of the abstraction or of the fixation on it creates resistance. The fixation on an abstraction creates separation within humankind and, in consequence, creates more resistance against this separation. I will suggest that those three terms are essential elements of the work that express the view of the author of the human nature and we will see how this view reveals certain contradictions of the human condition.
