Universidades, enseñanza virtual, competencias y justicia social: una historia de mercantilización de la enseñanza superior

El presente trabajo es fruto de la elaboración del marco teórico para la tesis doctoral del autor en la Universidad de Málaga y focalizada en la enseñanza virtual. Desde hace unos años hasta la actualidad, es innegable que existe un interés muy alto por las administraciones en fomentar tanto el uso de las TIC como la enseñanza virtual, de manera que la oferta de estos ha experimentado un crecimiento casi geométrico. De hecho, la proliferación de actividades académicas de este tipo, sobre todo en las etapas más altas del sistema educativo y fundamentalmente en titulaciones universitarias y másteres es tal, que se prevé que supere a la formación presencial en pocos años. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar en profundidad cuáles son los motivos que hay detrás de este interés por sumarse a esta nueva modalidad de enseñanza y cuáles son los criterios principales que rigen el diseño de los mismos.
