Las personas mayores y las redes sociales. Un análisis de la situación actual

La irrupción de la Web Social, dentro de los diferentes ámbitos de nuestra sociedad, resulta un hecho evidente en el siglo XXI. Las herramientas 2.0 se han convertido en el mayor medio de comunicación, colaboración, transmisión y difusión de información, permitiéndonos interaccionar de forma activa con otros usuarios, transformándose en un espacio en el que prevalece la democratización del conocimiento y aprendizaje común de una forma rápida y cómoda. El objetivo del presente estudio es conocer la presencia de las personas mayores en las redes sociales, el uso que hacen de las mismas, así como sus principales motivaciones. Realizamos una investigación descriptiva, con una metodología mixta donde combinaremos técnicas cualitativas y cuantitativas. Los resultados nos muestran que son escasas las personas mayores que usan las herramientas sociales, siendo Facebook la red protagonista y sus principales motivaciones de uso, el mantener el contacto con sus más allegados y el entretenimiento.
