Abstract

The aim of the study was to analyse the emotional traits of pre-service teachers of Secondary Education according to gender and four branches of knowledge: Arts and Humanities, Sciences, Health Sciences, Social and Legal Sciences. The sample consisted of 329 participants, students of the Master's Degree in Teacher Training at the University of Murcia (Spain). The instrument used to assess trait emotional intelligence was the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire Short Form (TEIQueSF). The results indicate that there are significant differences in emotional traits according to gender, with females showing higher values. Regarding trait emotional intelligence factors, the students of social and legal sciences were the ones who showed higher values.
