Abstract

In contrast to the macroeconomic interpretations of the Spanish economic crisis, this article focuses on the role played by the firms and territories. It argues that the strengths for economic recuperation lie in the entrepreneurial capacity that exists in the innovative regions, in the combination of macroeconomic measures with policies for innovation and leading firm strategies, and in its implementation according to the local development potential of each territory. Liberating the innovative forces of society would contribute to the recuperation of the economy and social well being.
