Abstract

This article presents a comparative analysis of two struggles against dams in Andalusia (Spain) and Jalisco (Mexico). The analysis focuses on the emotional dimension of these experiences, describing the role of emotions in motivating action, which calls attention to the role of place attachment. The findings highlight the results of some of these experiences, among which are the formation of new political subjectivities and new practices. Finally, the work shows how resistance can produce cultural change in those who undergo the process, while noting the importance of emotions as explanatory factors for the analysis of the hidden dynamics of protest.
