Abstract

How the fear, insecurity feeling, territorialization process converge with the legitimacy of a Prince is an unresolved issue which should bring the attention of many scholars. The present paper explores the topic in such a direction emphasizing on the contributions in the works of Michel Foucault and Corey Robin. Even if both shed light on the problem of legitimacy and politic power. Of course, they are divergent in respecting with the cause and effects of what
fear operates in social daily life. In fact, Foucault (in his texts) will not refer to the fear in politic fields but security, territorialization, crisis and risk concepts. Under such a context, whereas for Robin, fear creates certain propensity in human beings towards an involuntarily indoctrination in detriment of their own freedom, in Foucault the notion of security is associated to the crash introduced by the changes of XVII regarding the Christian thesis of salvation and protection.
