Resumen

Una análisis etnográfico de los esfuerzos de la comunidad internacional para democratizar la Bosnia-Herzegovina de posguerra argumento por un gran reconocimiento de los social dentro de los aspectos técnicos de la política. En vez de las elecciones como un ritual que simbólicamente refleja o produce significados, la percepción de Bruno Latour y otros académicos de la ciencia son aplicadas a las elecciones como un sitio que crea conocimiento democrático y autoridad. Las prácticas técnicas y los objetos construyen las elecciones como un evento apolítico y acultural. Sin embargo, las formas de autoridad y relaciones sociales cradas a través de este aparentemente techne neutral son tremendamente social y político. La democracia y las elecciones están firmemente incrustadas en las prácticas sociales, conocimientos, y objetos.
