With this case study we aim to analyse sustainability within agri-clusters in the Valencian
Community. To do so, we will focus on the case of the already recognised cluster of the
Vinalopó bagged table grape through the PDO Regulatory Council. We will try to assess the
impact of sustainability on this cluster by means of documentary analysis. To do this, different
indicators are used, such as: organic production, alternative seals, and the consumption of water
resources. We will discover that, although it is clear that sustainability is an intrinsic part of
the cluster, there are nuances and a lack of information for the consumer that do not favour
the perception of sustainability. It is not enough to be sustainable; this condition must be made
clear through the publication of data, news and actions to unequivocally convey the message of convergence with sustainability. Due to the specific nature of agri-food clusters, we will also
see that there are certain aspects which, when carried out by other agents within the cluster
region, do communicate their alignment with sustainability better, given the clear impact this
has on their activity.
