The plastic footprint. An experience based on printmaking to reflect on the massive use of plastics

The huge massification on the use of plastics is currently one of the most worrying environmental problems and, in view of this, it is necessary to reflect and act.
This article reflects on the omnipresence of plastic and proposes a strategy from art education based on printmaking -overprinting- to interpret the saturation of the material and its constant presence in the environment and in our body.
The main objective of the educational proposal, developed with Faculty of Educational Sciences’ students from the University of Granada (Spain), was to analyze the aesthetic properties of plastic in order to give the material the ability to print and produce artistic images related to this issue.
The images obtained were analyzed applying tools derived from arts-based methodologies, which allow to understand the creative process of the students from a visual and the sensitive point of view, establishing a dialogue with other disciplines such as video mapping to generate a collaborative piece.
