Abstract

This article presents interdisciplinary research carried out at the Escola d’Art i Superior de Ceràmica de Manises, which explores the creation of ceramic pastes from tiger nut waste, integrating art, sustainability, and pedagogy. From an a/r/tographic approach, experimental processes are addressed that link Mediterranean ceramic tradition and contemporary practices. The study, which overlaps with different areas of teaching, promotes creativity, ecological awareness, and student autonomy in the face of contingencies. The results demonstrate the educational and artistic potential of agricultural waste, favoring critical teaching that is materially conscious and connected to the territory and its culture.

Author Biographies

  • Ricard Balanzà Martínez, Universitat Jaume I; Instituto Superior de Enseñanzas Artísticas de la Comunidad Valenciana

    Benifairó de les Valls, (València) 1989. Es licenciado en Bellas Artes por la Universitat Politècnica de València, posee un máster en Profesor de Secundaria y Bachillerato y un postgrado en Educación Artística y Gestión de Museos por la Universitat de València, y actualmente se encuentra realizando el doctorado en Arte: Producción e Investigación, en la Universitat Politècnica de València, centrado en la obra escultórica y cerámica de Evarist Navarro Segura. Compagina su faceta docente, como profesor en l’Escola d’Art i Superior de Ceràmica de Manises (en el Departamento de Proyectos y Decoración Cerámica) y en la Universitat Jaume I de Castellón (en el Departamento de Educación y Didácticas Específicas), con investigación, mediación en arte y creación artística. Su arte se ha expuesto internacionalmente y tiene un carácter multidisciplinar, siendo fundamentalmente cerámica, dibujo, fotografía y obra pública efímera combustible (fallas experimentales). De su estética poética emana la vocación cósmica del ser humano en los orígenes de éste, el cultivo de la conciencia como individualidad en el devenir histórico y la celebración de los rituales como ilusiones compartidas.

  • Julián Otero Cortés, Instituto Superior de Enseñanzas Artísticas de la Comunidad Valenciana

    Licenciado en Bellas Artes y masterado en Investigación Artística. Especialista en el campo de la escultura y del volumen. Profesor en diversos centros educativos y universitarios valencianos.
