Publication Ethics and Misconduct Statement 

The editorial committee of Tercio Creciente, with the purpose of maintaining the research and academic quality of publications, establishes the following ethical principles, based on those established by the Committee on Publications Ethics-COPE. These good practices must be carried out by both the authors, the Editorial Committee and the Institution.

Responsibilities of Authors 

In case necessary, the author must present in the article the pertinent information (funding organization, institutional affiliation, participants, etc.) that authorizes its publication in repositories or other forms of storage. Declare the originality of the manuscript, make use of the information as demanded by copyright laws. In case necessary, guarantee that the studies carried out in humans or other species comply with national and international regulations. For this purpose, evidence of informed consent must be presented. Declare any possible conflict of interest. The author must inform the Editorial Committee of any significant error in the published article so that it may be corrected through an erratum, addendum, letter to the editor or withdrawal of the publication. In case of plagiarism, substitution of information or omission of it, the author is obliged to retract publicly and depending on the seriousness of the fault, the withdrawal or correction of the publication will be estimated. The author certifies that the article submitted is original, does not infringe copyright laws or any other property rights laws, has not been previously published and has not been sent for publication in another journal.

Editorial Committee Responsibility

The Editorial Committee of Tercio Creciente acts objectively in the performance of its duties, avoiding any type of discrimination motivated by reasons of gender, sex, religion, ethnic condition or geographical location of the authors. It establishes clear and transparent processes for cases of ethical complaint or conflict of interest. All claims will be studied and authors will be allowed to respond to them in a reasonable time. It ensures the confidentiality of information and editorial processes. Likewise, it avoids publishing articles that present the following irregularities: 

  • Conflict of interest. 
  • Not being original. 
  • Falsifying or adulterating the information. 
  • Fragmented publication. 
  • With plagiarism or self-plagiarism. 
  • Excessive self-citations and uncited references.

Editorial Institution Responsibility

The Publishing Service of the University of Jaén reviews the implementation of good practices and ethical principles in publications. 

Identification of Unethical Behavior 

If unethical behavior is detected, the complaint must be supported by sufficient proof to initiate the investigation process. The due process must be followed, as well as maintaining the confidentiality criteria of the information. The Tercio Creciente Editorial Committee will finalize the process with a decision that will be reported to the author or authors involved and the necessary measures will be taken to resolve the case.

Violations

Minor offenses: 

  • Minor offenses will be dealt with directly with the author so that in a given period he/she responds to the accusations. 

Severe offenses: 

Severe offenses may require any of the following actions: 

  • Reporting the misconduct and taking measures to prevent future mistakes.
  • Formal notification detailing the misconduct. 
  • Editorial publication detailing the unethical conduct. 

Formal letter to the author and funding institution. 

  • Formal retraction or withdrawal of the article, after informing the author, indexing services and readers of the reasons for the decision. 
  • Reporting the case and the result to a professional organization or higher authority for further investigation and action.
