The higher education between social engineering and the prerogative liberation

Abstract

One of the ways of transmission of knowledge takes place in the so-called higher education or university education. There are various areas that are cultivated at that level, ranging from scientific and technical to the social sciences and humanities in which commonly include artistic creation in its various expressions. Although the purpose of higher education is to develop the student’s potential for creativity and innovation, in many cases the structure of the plans and programs of study provide guidance for students to learn and play only the information that tell the teachers, so that the university loses one of its main functions: the promotion of free and autonomous exercise of reason. The aim of this paper is to describe the characteristics of the top choices for college: The acquisition of knowledge reproductive or liberating.
