The consequences of globalization have brought about a culture of speed resulting in a disregard for human lives turning it into a commodity. This study reflects the impacts of a homogenized culture of individualism and mass consumerism, and illustrates how the new wave of a sociocultural movement of deceleration and economic decrease could be an alternative model for global development. The Slow Movement is based on the principles of deceleration and wellbeing, promoting a slower pace, which allows us to become more aware in our daily practices and to seek pleasure in non-material values. Is it possible to incorporate these principles in an ever increasing urban environment? The study aims to address these issues of wellbeing in an urban setting bringing us closer to the ideas from a glocal perspective, and the concepts of stillness, slowing down, mobility and rhythm in a global context.
