Abstract

The present work is based on Heidegger’s analysis in “What are the poets for?” where the author interprets Hölderlin’s poetry using his elegy “Bread and Wine”, we review some of his descriptions and, using the notion of Dionysus in both Nietzsche and Hölderlin, try to understand the Hölderlin’s answer that describes the poets as “the holy priests of the wine-god”. We discuss as well about the concept of the artist as a god and the relationship between poetry and philosophy. Finally, this work deal with Heidegger’s opinions on his work called “Clarifications to Holderlin's Poetry” where the author overestimates the role of the poetry thinking that it can clarify thoughts of any half-thought-out philosophy.
